The Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards is an Annual Event that recognises the innovation and excellence of the local tourism industry. For the third year the awards were a great success.
One of the top awards of the evening is Highland Ambassador. This award is given to someone who the panel feel has really promoted tourism in the Highlands and Islands. This year the winner was Grant Sword.
As well as his current association with Castle Stuart Golf Links, who were also nominated for an award, Grant has been involved with some of the best hotels across the Highlands. There was however one stumbling point, unfortunately, due to personal commitments, he was not able to be at the awards ceremony.
I think everyone would agree that one of the best parts of an award ceremony is seeing the look on the winners faces as they receive their award.
To make sure that no one would miss out on seeing the surprise on his face we went with Craig Ewan of the Kingsmills Hotel to present him with the award and film his reaction. To lull him into a false sense of security we had arranged to interview him about the reasons behind the success of Castle Stuart Golf Links. Craig did a brilliant job and when he finally let the cat out of the bag the look on Grant’s face was fantastic.
Take a look at the video accompanying this article and you’ll see for yourself just how genuinely pleased he was.
